NEC WOMEN’S LACROSSE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Whitley Easton, Mercyhurst
Attack, Senior, Honeoye Falls, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima
The NEC’s top scorer put together another explosive offensive outing on Saturday to take home her first NEC Player of the Week honor of the season. Finding the back of the net a season-best six times for her fourth-straight hat trick and seventh multi-goal outing of the season, Easton tacked on a trio of assists to finish with a season-best nine points in Mercyhurst’s 16-7 win at Central Connecticut on Saturday (March 21). The nine tallies are the most recorded by an NEC player in a game this season, while the six goals are the second-most in the league. In addition to her contributions on the Lakers’ attacking line, Easton added a team- and season-best six draw controls to her stat line. With her team trailing by a 2-0 count, she ignited a 6-0 spurt with her first goal of the game before she capped that run with an assist to teammate Maggie Sheehan. In a dominant second half that saw Mercyhurst hold a 9-3 advantage in scoring, she found the back of the net five times. The Honeoye Falls, NY native leads the conference with 3.43 goals per game while her 4.14 points per game and 24 total scores are good for second and third in the league, respectively. 

NEC WOMEN’S LACROSSE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Sydney Mulroony, Wagner
Midfield, Sophomore, Rockaway, NJ/Morris Hills
Mulroony became the first player this season to repeat as the NEC Defensive Player of the Week as the sophomore previously earned the honor last week on March 16. The midfielder was a force on the Seahawks’ back line on Saturday and behind her stellar play, Wagner improved to 2-0 in NEC competition with a 14-9 win over visiting New Haven. Earning a season-best five draw controls while causing two turnovers, Mulroony collected nine ground balls, a mark that tops her previous career-best effort of seven that was set in her team’s NEC-opening victory over Delaware State last week. In addition, Mulroony also set the tone for the Seahawks offensively, delivering a career-best four goals. 

NEC WOMEN’S LACROSSE CO-ROOKIES OF THE WEEK
Sophia Lima, Howard
Midfield, Freshman, Altadena, CA/Crescenta Valley
Lima became the first Howard player this season to earn a weekly award from the NEC with her naming as the Rookie of the Week. The Altadena, CA native had a stellar outing in the Bison’s midfield against undefeated Le Moyne on Saturday after she racked up career-best numbers in goals (3), points (4) and ground balls (3). With the Bison trailing by a 13-4 count midway through the third quarter, Lima, who found the back of the net twice in the first half, contributed another goal and an assist to a late flurry of goals that saw Howard pull within two with 2:04 remaining thanks to a commanding, game-ending 8-1 run. Lima enters the week with seven goals, three assists and six ground balls on the season. 

Sophia Gouveia, Stonehill
Midfield, Freshman, North Stonington, CT/Wheeler
In six weeks of the NEC women’s lacrosse campaign, Gouveia has now taken home NEC Rookie of the Week distinction four times. The Nutmeg State product, who has registered at least one goal in eight-straight contests, had another stellar offensive performance for the Skyhawks. Tickling the twine a season-best four times, Gouveia helped Stonehill rebound from an NEC-opening defeat to Le Moyne with a commanding 20-6 victory over visiting Delaware State on Saturday. In addition, the middie added two ground balls, one caused turnover and a personal-best eight draw controls in the triumph. Gouveia has made a splash for the Skyhawks in her collegiate debut. Ranking second on the squad with 20 goals and third with 24 points, she is the team’s leader in draw controls (45). In addition, her 10 caused turnovers are good for second on the squad.

  • Tallied four points on three goals and an assist at LIU on Saturday (March 21)
  • Added five ground balls and caused one turnover
 
Sophia Lima, HU (MF, Fr)
  • NEC Co-Rookie of the Week
  • Racked up a career-high four points after netting her first career hat trick against Le Moyne on Saturday (March 21)
  • Added three ground balls, also a personal-best mark
 
Julia Blakeslee, LEM (MF, Jr)
  • Tied her career high in scoring with four goals on four shots in Le Moyne’s 14-12 win over Howard on Saturday (March 21)
  • Added three draw controls
 
Olivia Lockwood, LEM (A, R-Jr)
  • Netted three-straight goals within a 3:24 stretch in the second half to put Le Moyne up by a 9-4 count in an eventual 14-12 win over Howard on Saturday (March 21)
  • Dished out two assists to finish with a team-best five points
  • Has six hat tricks on the season to lead the NEC with 28 goals
 
Julia Trainor, LIU (MF, Sr)
  • Made it back-to-back hat tricks after she scored three times in Saturday’s 13-8 win over FDU (March 21)
  • Added two assists to match a season-best effort in points (5)
  • Also tallied two ground balls and one caused turnovers
 
Maggie Allen, MU (GK, So)
  • Manned the net for three quarters against Central Connecticut on Saturday, limiting the Blue Devils to five goals in the eventual 16-7 win (March 21)
  • Posted a 6.67 GAA and made 11 stops on 16 shots on target for a .688 save percentage
  • Added three ground balls
  • Leads the NEC in saves per game (10.86)
 
Whitley Easton, MU (A, Sr)
  • NEC Player of the Week
  • Set the NEC’s single-game standard in points on the season after registering nine in Saturday’s 16-7 win against Central Connecticut (March 21)
  • Scored six times, tacked on three assists and won a team-best six draw controls
  • Leads the NEC in goals per game (3.43)
 
Caitlin Seleny, NHVN (A, Sr)
  • Compiled seven points on Saturday at undefeated Wagner (March 21)
  • Registered her fifth multi-goal outing of the year with two scores
  • Has registered at least three points in each of her seven appearances this season
 
Neave Bowman, STO (A, So)
  • Posted a career-high six points in Stonehill’s win over Delaware State on Saturday (March 21)
  • Tied a personal-best effort with two goals and set a career high in assists with four
 
Sophia Gouveia, STO (MF, Fr)
