NEC BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Cord Dobrinski, LIU

Dobrinski led LIU at the plate during the Sharks’ series win over New Haven last week. The senior outfielder went 6-for-15 (.400) in the batter’s box while cracking two homers and driving in nine runs. Dobrinski added three stolen bases, a trio of walks and five run of his own. The Bristow, OK native had a standout performance in LIU’s 23-16 win on Saturday with a .500 average, a homer, four RBIs and three runs. He finished the week with a 1.326 OPS off a .800 slugging percentage and a .526 OBP. Dobrinski is the second Shark to be tabbed NEC Player of the Week this season, joining his teammate Ryan Rivera (February 17). LIU currently sits at 12-5 in NEC play.

Jonathan Gonzalez Perez, Maryland Eastern Shore

Gonzalez Perez did it all for UMES as the Hawks clinched a road series win at Delaware State over the weekend. The senior catcher smacked three home runs and registered 10 RBIs off .333 batting. During Saturday’s 11-4 victory over the Hornets, Gonzalez Perez smashed two of his homers, while driving in seven runs for the Hawks. His final homer of the weekend came in the ninth inning of a 6-5 game on Sunday to help UMES secure the two-run triumph. The Syracuse, NY native finished the week with 5 runs scored and a 1.201 OPS off a .822 slugging percentage and .368 OBP. This marks his first career NEC Player of the Week award.

NEC BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Finarelli threw a complete game with a NEC-best nine strikeouts during LIU’s thrilling 2-1 win at New Haven on Friday afternoon. Through nine innings of work, the redshirt junior allowed just four hits, one walk and one earned run. His 1.00 ERA was a league-best last week along with a 0.556 WHIP. The Hunlock Creek, PA limited the Chargers to a 138 BA through 29 at-bats. Finarelli leads the conference in ERA (4.10), opposing batting average (.221) and strikeouts (57). His five wins on the season are tied for the NEC lead. This marks Finarelli’s second career NEC Pitcher of the Week honor and first of the season.
 
NEC BASEBALL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Fox impressed in Central Connecticut’s weekend series at Coppin State for his first NEC Rookie of the Week accolade. The freshman put together a .467 BA outing at the plate along with scoring three runs and driving in a trio of RBIs. Fox added two double and homer last week. In the Blue Devils’ 17-4 win on Friday, the Killingworth, CT native went 2-for-4 with a double and a RBI. To the finish off the week, Fox posted a 1.300 OPS off a .800 slugging percentage and a .500 OBP. He is the first CCSU player to be named NEC Rookie of the Week since Vincent Spizzoucco in 2022.
