NEC BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Joseph Mennella, Wagner
Jr., INF
Staten Island, NY/St. Peter's Boys

Mennella was instrumental in keeping Wagner’s hot streak this past week as the Seahawks have won a conference-best seven straight games. The junior infielder batted .588 (10-for-17) at the plate, while scoring nine runs and driving in 12 more as Wagner went a perfect 5-0 last week. Through five contests, Mennella cracked a pair of doubles, a triple and three homers as the Seahawks earned non-conference games at Lafayette and Princeton, while sweeping their road conference series against Maryland Eastern Shore. He also drew eight walks last week. The Staten Island native finished the five-game span with a NEC-best 2.045 OPS off a 1.353 slugging percentage and a .692 OBP. Mennella has registered the second-most RBIs in the conference (52) along with ranking fourth in OPS (1.128). His 11 homers this season are also tied for fifth in the NEC. The Seahawks sit at 17-7 in conference play. This is Mennella's second NEC Player of the Week selection of the season.
