NEC MEN'S SOCCER CO-PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Jaime Barbero, Sr., F, FDU
Valencia, Spain/IES Fuente San Luis
Barbero netted a pair of goals in an undefeated home stand for the Knights. In a battle between two regionally ranked teams in the Northeast, the senior forward scored the game-winning goal in the 83rd minute against New Haven on Thursday. Off a set up from Arnau Rabassa Guillamon, Barbero settled it in the box, played the ball to his left foot and rifled it in the back of the net to secure the 1-0 victory. The Valencia, Spain native added another score in FDU's 4-0 win over Chicago State on Sunday to lift the Knights to a 3-0 start in conference play. Barbero became the third FDU player to earn NEC Player of the Week accolades this season. The Knights are currently riding a three-match win streak.

Thero Mitchell III, Fr., F, Saint Francis U
Bothell, WA/Bothell
Saint Francis U continued its undefeated start to league play behind Mitchell's two goals in a pair of home wins last week. During Thursday's matinee against in-state rival Mercyhurst, Jonah Wolf placed a cross through the penalty area where Mitchell connected on a diving header for the game's long goal in 1-0 triumph. Mitchell found the back of the net once again in SFU's thrilling 4-3 triumph over defending NEC champion LIU. The Bothell, WA product played a through ball from Nathan Katari in the middle of the box before beating the LIU keeper to the bottom left corner. Mitchell is tied for third in the NEC golden boot race with three goals on the year. The Red Flash It marks the sixth straight season a SFU player has claimed NEC Rookie of the Week laurels.
