Barbero netted a pair of goals in an undefeated home stand for the Knights. In a battle between two regionally ranked teams in the Northeast, the senior forward scored the game-winning goal in the 83rd minute against New Haven on Thursday. Off a set up from Arnau Rabassa Guillamon, Barbero settled it in the box, played the ball to his left foot and rifled it in the back of the net to secure the 1-0 victory. The Valencia, Spain native added another score in FDU’s 4-0 win over Chicago State on Sunday to lift the Knights to a 3-0 start in conference play. Barbero became the third FDU player to earn NEC Player of the Week accolades this season. The Knights are currently riding a three-match win streak.
