Kansas 51, LIU 6
LIU held FBS and Big 12 opponent Kansas to one touchdown and a field goal through the first 20 minutes of action, but the Jayhawks heated up and tacked on five more touchdowns to push ahead by a 44-0 count with 14:19 left in the fourth quarter. Senior Will Johnson converted on a pair of field goals from 39 yards out in the final stanza to put the Sharks on the board.
 
STONEHILL 21, NEW HAVEN 3
Stonehill held New Haven without a conversion on third and fourth downs — a combined 0-for-13 effort — to cruise to an NEC-opening 21-3 triumph at Ralph F. DellaCamera Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Skyhawks did all their damage in the opening half, getting consecutive touchdowns from sophomore running back Aidan Garrett before closing out the game’s scoring right after the two-minute timeout with a 31-yard catch from fifth-year Jack O’Connell to senior wide receiver Torance Washington, Jr. 
 
WAGNER 31, Southern Connecticut 7
Opening the game with a 24-0 run capped by a 44-yard field goal off the foot of Ryan Liszner as time expired in the first half, Wagner cruised to its first win of the season on Saturday in Staten Island. Four different players reached the end zone for the Seahawks, who racked up 409 total yards of offense in the triumph.
 
Air Force 34, DUQUESNE 0
FBS opponent Air Force’s running game was too much for Duquesne to handle on Saturday as the Dukes dropped their season opener by a 34-0 count on Saturday. Graduate linebacker Zach Chambers led Duquesne with nine tackles in his debut as a Duke.
 
ROBERT MORRIS 29, West Virginia State 9
Sophomore Carson Haggard threw for three scores for the second consecutive game while classmate Galen Combs made it back-to-back contests with multiple touchdowns to lead Robert Morris past West Virginia State in the Colonials’ home opener on Saturday. With the victory, the Colonials are off to a 2-0 start to a season for the first time since 2004.  
 
New Mexico State 51, MERCYHURST 14
Mercyhurst remained within striking distance of FBS foe New Mexico State, taking a 14-13 lead with 12:44 left in the second quarter. Fifth-year running back Byron Cardwell, Jr. and sophomore tight end Camden Lewis accounted for the Lakers’ touchdowns before the Aggies rattled off four straight scores to pull away for the win.
 
UT Martin 42, CHICAGO STATE 7
UT Martin spoiled Chicago State’s opening-drive touchdown throw from rookie Ashton Pannell to De Armond Matthews by rattling off six-straight scores to take a 42-7 triumph in the Cougars’ first-ever game against an FCS opponent on Saturday. Rookie Ashton Pannell completed 20 passes for 153 yards and a touchdown to pace the Cougars.
