New Britain, CT — On the back of strong showings in the field and on the track, Wagner reclaimed its throne atop the world of NEC Men’s Outdoor Track & Field.

The Seahawks edged CCSU by just 10 points at the CCSU Track and Field facility in New Britain, CT to hoist the trophy on the outdoor circuit for the fourth time in program history and first since 2023 by registering 182 points across the two-day meet. Wagner has won four of the last six NEC outdoor meets.

Tallying up 172 points, meet host Central Connecticut placed second in the team standings, falling just short of winning its third NEC title in a row. Stonehill finished third with 97 points. Rounding out the top five of the championship leaderboard were FDU (89) and NEC newcomer New Haven (78.5) in that order.

Wagner was powered by strong performances in the running events, led by rookie sensation Noah Grant, who was named the NEC Most Outstanding Track Performer (Distance) and the NEC Most Outstanding Rookie. Grant swept the short sprints with golds in the 100m (10.45) and 200m (21.24) dashes and helped lead the Seahawks to another first-place finish in the 4x100m (41.91) and a silver medal in the 4x400m (3:19.80).

Adding to Wagner’s presence on the track was sixth year distance runner Florian Hinry, who earned the Co-NEC Most Outstanding Track Performer (Distance) award. The French native started out strong with a gold in the 10,000m (31:05.05) yesterday, while finishing fourth in the 5,000m race (14:57.39) on Sunday afternoon.

Junior Jack Mason continued his impressive meet run by winning gold in the triple jump (15.54m) to attain NEC Most Outstanding Field Performer (Jumps) status after his record-breaking long jump (7.75m) on Saturday.

Spearheading CCSU’s attempted at a three-peat, sophomore thrower Greyson Golda landed on the podium in three different throwing events. In doing so, he was named the NEC Most Valuable Performer and Most Outstanding Field Performer (Throws). Golda struck gold in the shot put (18.10m) and discus (50.15m), while bringing home a silver in the hammer (56.97m). The Bethel, CT native has been tabbed Most Outstanding Field Performer (Throws) in back-to-back seasons.

Senior Aidan Budge continued the long tradition of strong Blue Devils distance runners, winning the 5k (14:49.45) and placing third in the 1500m (3:54.03) on his way to earning NEC Most Outstanding Track Performer (Distance) accolades.
