Moon Township, PA - A pair of NEC men's lacrosse major award winners added to their accolades on Thursday.
The United States Intergollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) named the Robert Morris duo of
Dylan Anderson (Victoria, British Columbia/Royal Bay Academy) and
Owen Tapper (Whitby, Ontario/The Hill Academy) All America Honorable Mentions.
The recognition is the exclamation mark on a season where the Colonial pair swept the NEC major player awards. Anderson won the NEC Player of the Year, NEC Offensive Player of the Year and NEC Rookie of the Year, while Tapper was named the NEC Defensive Player of the Year. The two standouts were also All-NEC First Team selections as well.
Anderson burst onto the scene in his debut campaign. The Whitby, Ontario native tallied 47 points from 35 goals and 12 assists, ranking third in the league in goals and tied for third in points. He was the first player in NEC history to win Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year in the same season.
Tapper led all NEC defenders with 78 ground balls and 35 caused turnovers, ranking fifth nationally in the latter. The junior was a crucial part of a second consecutive conference title for Robert Morris. Tapper was named to the All-Tournament team after picking up 11 ground balls and causing a turnover in two contests.
