Ellicott City, MD -- History was made on Sunday afternoon as Howard clinched its first-ever NEC Women's Golf title with a massive comeback in the final round at Turf Valley Resort in Ellicott City, MD.

Entering the day with a nine stroke deficit, the Bison stormed back with a 301 in the final round to claim the team championship by just two strokes with a 917 total for the weekend.

Defending NEC champ FDU placed second with a 919 stroke total, while North Carolina Central placed third with a 957 through three rounds of play.

On the individual leaderboard, Howard senior Marley Franklin held onto her two-day lead to win her first career collegiate tournament. The Los Angeles, CA native shot a 6-over 77 in the final round, but was still able to finish seven strokes ahead of the field for a 7-over 220 score for the tournament. Franklin sunk a birdie on the 16th hole of round three to make it six for her on the weekend.

Franklin, the 2023 NEC Rookie of the Year, made it back-to-back individual titles for Howard as Paris Fieldings, who finished tied for 10th this year, finished atop the individual leaderboard in 2025.

Bison freshman Mia Melendez shined on the final day to help lead Howard to history. The rookie shot the best single-round score of the tournament with a 1-under 70 to catapult herself 11 spots up the leaderboard to third place a 228 stroke total on the weekend. Melendez's round was peppered with three birdies, including two through the first three holes.

Three FDU golfers placed in the top-five, including tournament runner-up Abbey Baker. Starting round three tied for fourth, the senior put together a 4-over 75 through the final 18 holes for a 227 total.

Fellow Knights Kashika Misra and Michelle Yang both tied for fourth with 16-over 229 totals for the weekend, which was just two strokes behind their teammate Baker in second. Yang tied for fourth last season.

As the conference champion, Howard earned the NEC's automatic qualifier to NCAA Regionals. The Bison will find out where they are heading next during the 2026 NCAA Division I Women's Golf selection show on Wednesday, April 29 at 5:00 p.m. ET on the Golf Channel.
