NEC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Sofia Marciano, Saint Francis U
So., F, Buenos Aires, Argentina/Del Viso Day School
Marciano was a scoring machine in Saint Francis U’s 7-0 victory at Merrimack as she found the back of the cage an NEC and SFU single-game record six times in the win. The sophomore midfielder scored once in the second quarter and once in the third to put the Red Flash up 3-0 heading into the final frame. Marciano went on to score four times in the fourth with three of them coming within a 4:11 span. The Argentina native is one of three DI players to score six times in a single game this season. Marciano totaled 12 points last week along with 15 shots in a 2-0 weekend for the Red Flash as they added a 3-0 win at Stonehill. The second-year player is tied for the league-lead in goals (nine) and ranks second in points (19) on the year. SFU has won its first three NEC contests for the first time since 2012 and third time in program history. Additionally, the Red Flash are 7-3 overall for the second consecutive season and are off to their second-best overall start in team history.
NEC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jade Regnart, Rider
So., GK, Cape Town, South Africa/Fairmont
Regnart did it all between the posts last week as Rider bounced back with an unbeaten weekend in conference play. On Friday, the Broncs shutout New Haven, 4-0, with the sophomore goalie making one save during her second clean sheet of the season. Regnart shined in Rider’s 2-1 win against Sacred Heart on Sunday as the South Africa native made a career-high 14 stops. She anchored a Rider defense that stopped three SHU penalty corner attempts in the final minute to preserve a 2-1 win and secure a key NEC victory. She allowed just one goal through 120 minutes of play over the weekend, which came off a penalty stroke against the Pioneers. Regnart leads the conference in save percentage (.734), while her two shutouts are tied for second in the league. Posting a 1.00 GAA and a .938 save percentage last week, this marks Regnart’s second NEC Defensive Player of the Week honor this season.
NEC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
