Easton, MA — Seventy-six days after Wagner made history on the Northeast Conference (NEC) women's indoor track and field circuit by claiming its first title, the Seahawks did it again.

Compiling 167 points over the two-day event — 21 more than runner-up Central Connecticut — the team from Staten Island hoisted the NEC women's outdoor track and field championship trophy for the first time ever on Sunday.

Host-team Stonehill posted the program's highest finish since joining the conference for the 2022-23 season, as the Skyhawks ranked third with 124 points. Saint Francis U (121 points) and NEC newcomer Chicago State (110) rounded out the top-five.

Blazing the trail and helping the Seahawks put a bow on a sensational 2024-25 season with the track and field sweep was senior sensation Ruth-Ann Chambers. The NEC Most Outstanding Track Performer (Sprints) had one of the most remarkable meets in recent history. She racked up 30 points with a trio of gold-medal performances, including NEC meet record-breaking marks in the 100m hurdles (11.86) and the 400m hurdles (59.46), and when the dust settled on the track, she was pegged the NEC Most Valuable Performer, a title she also earned at the conclusion of the indoor track and field championship back in February.

Chambers also helped Wagner earn a spot on the podium in the 4x400m relays, as the Seahawks claimed bronze in the event.

After sophomore Rylee Ferretti, who was named the Most Outstanding Track Performer (Distance), opened the day with a win in the grueling 10,000m race - clocking in at 37:38.11 - Wagner never looked back. Striking gold in the 4x800m relay on Saturday, the Seahawks tacked two more gold medals on to Chambers' three with first-place finishes by Giavanna Comerford (3,000m steeplechase) and Elisa Parazzi (high jump) on Sunday.

Laura Trenado, a member of the first-place 4x800m relay team, racked up some serious points for Wagner. Taking second in what was a two-three finish for the Seahawks in the 1500m, she also earned silver in the 800m race.

The Blue Devils' roster sported the NEC's Most Outstanding Rookie. First-year thrower Maya Marin contributed 18 points to Central Connecticut's total after she bested the competition in the javelin and earned runner-up honors in the discus. Teammate Wenesha Steward, who joined Marin on the podium after winning the discus, also hauled in 18 points for her squad with a second-place finish in the shot put.

FDU's Nilija Wiltshire also shined in the throwing pits. The sophomore won the shot put by almost three meters with a 16.79 meter toss and added two more medals to her count after she earned bronze in the hammer throw and the discus. She was named the NEC Most Outstanding Field Performer (Throws).

Rounding out the weekend's major award winners was Lena Cleveland from Chicago State. In her first-ever outdoor championship, the rookie took top-billing in the long jump on Saturday before she placed sixth in Sunday's triple jump.
