11/10/2025

NEC Player of the Week: Greg Gordon, LIU
NEC Rookie of the Week: David Jevtic, FDU
Previous NEC Releases: Preseason Poll Release

NEC MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Greg Gordon, LIU
Sr., G, 6-5, 210 lbs.
Last Week’s Stats:
20.0 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 5.5 apg, 2.5 spg, 56.7 FG% (17-30)
Gordon’s LIU debut was an impressionable one last week. The senior, who landed on the Sharks’ roster after spending one season at Iona and a year at UAB, averaged 20.0 points on 56.7 percent shooting from the field (17-of-30) to lead his team to a split record during that stretch. Gordon was up for the challenge in LIU’s season debut, a road game at Notre Dame on Monday. Netting 11 points, he pulled down seven boards, snagged four steals and dished out seven assists in the defeat. Three days later, the Chicago product had a huge outing at IU Indy. Scoring 17 of his game-high 29 points in the second half, he put the Sharks in front for good with a layup at the 2:24 mark to seal the 94-90 victory. The effort marked Gordon’s third-best scoring game as a Division I player.

NEC MEN'S BASKETBALL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
David Jevtic, FDU
Guard, Freshman, 6-8, 200 lbs., Belgrade, Serbia/KK Kolubara Lazarevac 2003
Last Week’s Stats: 14.0 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 2.0 apg, 1.5 spg, 53.5 mpg, 36.4 FG% (9-19), 66.7 FT% (6-9)
Jevtic made a splash in his collegiate debut last week. A guard from Belgrade, Serbia, he logged 57 minutes in two games and shot 47.4 percent from the field for the Knights during that stretch. Jevtic secured a spot in FDU’s starting five in Monday’s season debut at Iowa State, and he did not disappoint. Going 4-of-7 from the field with a three-pointer, he netted 14 points while adding six boards, two assists and a pair of steals. Jevtic was just as impressive in the Knights’ road game at Saint Peter’s on Saturday, dropping 14 points behind a trio of three-pointers. He is the first FDU player to take home the first NEC Rookie of the Week award of the year since Pier-Olivier Racine did so in the 2021-22 season.

NEC PRIME PERFORMERS

Taeshaud Jackson, FDU (F, Sr)
In his FDU debut, Jackson, who arrived in Hackensack following a two-year stint at VMI and one season at Northern Colorado, averaged a double-double in two games last week. Combining to shoot 46.7 percent from the field (7-of-15), the senior forward dropped 14 points and 13 rebounds on Saturday at Saint Peter’s.

Trent Mosquera, LEM (G, R-Jr)
Mosquera’s season debut was highlighted by back-to-back 20-point outings in a three-game stretch for Le Moyne. The redshirt junior guard put up career-best numbers across the board in a 74-69 setback at Xavier on Thursday with 20 points, six three-pointers, six rebounds and four dimes.

Greg Gordon, LIU (G, Sr)
UAB transfer and Chicago native Gordon scored 17 of his 29 points in the second half — including the go-ahead bucket — to fuel LIU’s comeback in a 94-90 win at IU Indy on Thursday. In his first week as a Shark, the senior guard averaged 20.0 points on 56.7 percent shooting while adding 7.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 2.5 steals per game. Gordon was also named the NEC Player of the Week.

Mason Porter-Brown, LIU (F, Jr)
In his LIU debut, Porter-Brown averaged 15.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game on 50.0 percent shooting from the field and from deep. The junior forward led the Sharks with 12 points at Notre Dame on opening day before he contributed 18 points at IU Indy, including a dunk in transition to seal the come-from-behind 94-90 win on Thursday.

Berni Blunt III, MU (G, Gr)
Blunt, a Preseason All-NEC pick, averaged 17.7 points on 50.0 percent shooting to lead Mercyhurst to a 2-1 start to the 2025-26 campaign. The graduate guard balled out on Thursday, netting 27 points — a career high as a Laker — to pilot his team to a big win at Loyola Chicago.

Skylar Wicks, SFU (G/F, R-Sr)
Joining Saint Francis’ roster after a recent stint at UTSA, Wicks averaged 16.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals in his Red Flash debut. Combining to shoot 50.0 percent from long range after going 7-for-14, the combo guard/forward followed an 18-point performance at Oklahoma on Monday with 18 points at TCU on Thursday.

Hermann Koffi, STO (G, So)
The Preseason All-NEC selection dropped a career-high 27 points on a brilliant 7-of-10 effort from deep to keep Stonehill within of arms’ reach of De Paul on Friday in an eventual 72-64 defeat in Chicago. A sophomore guard, Koffi averaged 27.0 points on 62.5 percent shooting from the field in a week that began with a Skyhawks’ win over Thomas College.

John Awoke, WC (G, Jr)
Awoke was an efficient scoring machine in his Wagner debut on Friday night at Seton Hall. The junior knocked down 6-of-7 three-pointers and went 7-of-9 from the field on the night to finish with 20 points in the hard-fought 68-61 defeat to the Big East foe.
