Tyrone, PA -- CCSU added yet another chapter to its storied legacy in NEC women’s cross country.
For the second year in a row and the seventh time in eight years, the Blue Devils sat atop the the NEC women's cross country throne after capturing the 2025 championship in Tyrone, PA.
The victory also marked a historic milestone, as CCSU claimed a record ninth NEC title, surpassing Quinnipiac’s previous total of eight.
In the first-ever race at the 6K distance, CCSU finished with 51 points, 16 ahead of runner-up Wagner. The Seahawks took second - the Green & White's best finish since winning back-to-back titles in 1992 and 1993 - edging Saint Francis in a tiebreaker, after both squads scored 67 points at the meet. Stonehill finished just two points off those schools in fourth (69).
Rylee Ferretti (Staten Island, NY/New Dorp High School) was crowned the individual champion after clocking in at 22:19.5 for a six-second cushion over the field. Teammate Laura Trenado (Madrid, Spain/IES Parque de Lisboa) finished sixth in 22:49.80. The Seahawks duo both finished in the top 10 for the second year in a row, earning All-NEC honors once again.
The pair of Maegan Desmarais (Thomaston, CT/Thomaston) and Juliana Cancellieri (Berlin, CT/Berlin) paced CCSU with second and third place finishes, respectively. Desmarais crossed the line at 22:25.6, while Cancellieri finished in 22:29.6. Desmarais now has earned four All-NEC accolades, while Cancellieri has three to her credit. Kaylee Gravel (East Hampton, CT/East Hampton) placed 10th with a 23:21.8 time.
SFU's Anna Quackenbush (Mount Airy, MD/Linganore) placed fourth after completing the course in 22:37.5. Rosemary Gaydos (Irwin, PA/Norwin) and Morgan McNaughton (Summerville, PA/Clarion-Limestone) placed seventh and eighth respectively, for the Red Flash, registering at 22:59.3 and 23:14.0. Quackenbush earned All-NEC honors for the second year in a row.
Stonehill's Emily Young (Beverly, MA/Beverly) placed fifth with a time of 22:47.9.
NEC Freshman of the Year honors were awarded to LIU's Kaysie Luna (Magnolia, NJ/Sterling), who was the top freshman runner with a time of 23:32.60 to place 11th overall.
The top 14 finishers were named to the All-Conference team. CCSU, Saint Francis and Stonehill each had three honorees.
