NEC BASEBALL CO-PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Marte brought the firepower on offense for Coppin State last week as the Eagles went 3-1. The freshman catcher scored seven runs and drove in nine more with all his RBIs coming in Coppin State’s weekend sweep of conference foe Norfolk State. Marte homered twice in the series win over the Spartans. He posted a .500 / .619 / 1.071 slash for a 1.690 OPS in four games. Marte is the second Eagle to garner NEC Player of the Week honors this season and the first to take home Rookie of the Week. 

Krew Bouldin, Delaware State

In Delaware State’s weekend sweep of Merrimack, Bouldin anchored the Hornets’ offense in a big way. The senior went 8-13 (.615) while hitting three homers, including a grand slam in the ninth inning of Delaware State’s 22-21 slugfest victory over the Warriors. He scored nine runs and added eight RBIs during the weekend series. The Middletown, DE native posted a 2.107 OPS while also registering a .722 OBP and 1.385 slugging percentage.

NEC BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK

McCallum put together 6.0 innings of work on the mound in two games against Norfolk State last week. The junior southpaw struck out 11 batters and walked four, while giving up only three hits and one earned run for a 1.50 ERA. McCallum yielded a lone run on two hits over 5.0 innings and fanned nine to earn his first win on the mound this season in Coppin State’s 10-7 victory over the Spartans on Sunday. He posted a 1.167 WHIP in his two appearances.
