NEC/ATLANTIC TOMORROW'S OFFICE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Teneisia Brown, FDU
Forward/Center, Graduate Student, 6-2, Montego Bay, Jamaica/Mount Vernon/St. Andrew’s (Merrimack)
Brown averaged a double-double to lead the Knights to a two-game sweep at the FDU Christmas Classic last week. The Jamaican-born forward/center strung together consecutive double-digit scoring games against Maine on Wednesday and Bryant on Thursday to extend her twin figure streak to six-straight games. Brown was a beast on the boards in her first game back from FDU’s holiday break, hauling in a game-high 15 rebounds while contributing 13 points. The double-double marked her fifth of the season, which leads all NEC players. The graduate student had another impressive outing on Thursday against the Bulldogs. Coming one board shy of her sixth double-double, she dropped 16 points to extend FDU’s win streak to three games. Thanks in part to Brown’s dominance in the post, the Knights concluded non-conference play with a league-best 10-3 record. Leading the NEC in rebounding with 9.6 boards per game, she is fifth in the circuit in scoring with 13.3 points per contest. With this week’s honor, Brown pushed her league-leading NEC/Atlantic Tomorrow’s Office Player of the Week award count to three.
NEC/ATLANTIC TOMORROW'S OFFICE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Ava Renninger, FDU
Guard, Freshman, 5-6, Yardley, PA/Archbishop Wood
Renninger led the Knights to a pair of victories at their host tournament, the FDU Christmas Classic, last week. Averaging 16.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists during that stretch, the rookie guard helped FDU conclude its non-conference slate with a 10-3 mark, which includes a perfect 8-0 record against fellow mid-major opponents. The league’s top-scoring rookie got her week going with a 14-point effort in Wednesday’s 66-48 win over America East foe Maine. Dishing out four assists against the Black Bears, Renninger added five boards and a block in the triumph. One day later, the Keystone State product had another impressive outing against another America East member in Bryant. Draining four three-pointers, including three in a pivotal second quarter that saw the Knights outscore the Bulldogs by a 17-5 margin, she led all scorers with 18 points in the dominant 63-49 victory. With nine double-figure scoring games, Renninger leads FDU in scoring and is fourth in the league with 13.6 points per contest. This is Renninger’s fifth NEC/Atlantic Tomorrow’s Office Rookie of the Week honor, which leads all NEC first-year players.
