Somerset, NJ — The Northeast Conference (NEC) announced its 2022 football schedule on Tuesday. Each of the eight teams that comprise the league are set to face each other one time throughout the season, providing seven conference games per squad.

The first NEC contest of the season will take place on Sept. 10 in New Britain, CT, and will feature two Nutmeg State opponents. Central Connecticut will host defending conference champion Sacred Heart, which made its fourth FCS playoff appearance under head coach Mark Nofri in 2021.

Winning six straight games against NEC opponents to end the regular season, the Pioneers came up short in the NCAA postseason to No. 24 Holy Cross after the Crusaders landed a 35-yard touchdown pass in the final seconds of the fourth quarter.
