Emmitsburg, MD - DJ Workcuff was a newborn the last time it happened.

Twenty-one years later, the senior Decathlete and his Mount St. Mary's teammates trailed four-time defending champion Central Connecticut by four points in the men's team standings with one event remaining.

Had there been any doubt who the Most Valuable Performer was prior to that point, Workcuff erased it and wrote his name into Northeast Conference history by anchoring the Mount's 4x400m relay team to a second-place finish. The eights points were just enough to propel Mount St. Mary's to the top of the team leader board.

Edging CCSU by a 172-170 margin, Mount St. Mary's secured its first outdoor team title since 1997.

Workcuff totaled 21.5 points and registered three IC4A Championship qualifying marks en-route to claiming the MVP award.

After coming within eight centimeters of the meet long jump record on Saturday, Workcuff scored in the 100m and 200m dash finals on Sunday. In addition to anchoring the 4x400m relay, he ran the final leg of Mount's triumphant 4x100m relay.

Saint Francis U, which scored 138 points to finish in third place, saw three of its athletes earn major individual awards.
