2015 Schedule

Brooklyn, NY -- LIU Brooklyn head volleyball coach Ken Ko has announced his team's schedule for the 2015 season, and it is one of the most competitive schedules in program history. The Blackbirds, who have won three-straight Northeast Conference championships, and currently hold the longest regular season conference win streak in NCAA Division I women's volleyball, will take on teams from the top conferences in the nation, including the PAC 12, the SEC, the ACC, the Big Ten, Conference USA, the Big West and the BIG EAST, to name a few. Home contests against Oregon, Ohio State, Syracuse and Arizona highlight the slate.

LIU opens the season August 28 at the Hokie Invitational, where the Blackbirds will take on Virginia Tech, Radford and Eastern Tennessee State. The Blackbirds then return home to the Steinberg Wellness Center for their home opener, Monday, August 31, as LIU will host the University of Oregon. The match against the Ducks is slated for 5:00 p.m.

LIU has two more tournaments on the road, including the University of Buffalo Invitational (September 4-5), where they will take on Buffalo, Arkansas, Marshall, and the Lobo Invitational (September 18-19) against New Mexico State, Cal State Northridge and LSU.

The Blackbirds will host their annual Blackbird Invitational the weekend of September 11 and 12, with one of the best fields ever to come to the Steinberg Wellness Center. LIU will open the tournament with The Ohio State University, Friday, September 11 at 7:00 p.m., before taking on the University of Arizona and Syracuse on the 12th. LIU also heads to Queens for a non-conference match at St. John's, before the open of the Northeast Conference schedule.

Once again, LIU begins its' title defense on the road this season, as the Blackbirds will take on CCSU and Bryant away to open NEC play, September 26 and 27. The NEC home opener for LIU will be against perennial tournament teams Robert Morris (October 3) and Saint Francis U. (October 4).

The league round robin continues from there, with LIU taking on Sacred Heart and FDU on the road (October 17 & 18), before hosting three straight matches against St. Francis Brooklyn (October 20), CCSU (October 24) and Bryant (October 25). The Blackbirds then hit the road for the annual Pennsylvania contingent of the NEC, at Robert Morris (October 31) and Saint Francis (11/1), before taking on local rival St. Francis Brooklyn in Brooklyn Heights, November 7. The Blackbirds host the final home weekend of NEC play, against Sacred Heart (November 14) and FDU (November 15), before taking part in the annual NEC Tournament, November 21 and 22.

This year, the Blackbirds will end the regular season with a match against perennial national championship contender Florida. LIU will travel to Gainsville for a late season match against the Gators, Friday, November 27 at 2:00 p.m.
