Brooklyn, NY -- LIU Brooklyn senior
Brice Merwine has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District 1 men's soccer first team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Merwine has a 3.92 grade point average as mathematics major at LIU Brooklyn. The Capital One Academic All-District teams, which are voted on by sports information directors around the nation, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Merwine is one of 12 to be named to the District 1 NCAA Division I First Team.
In addition to his success in the classroom, Merwine leads the Blackbirds with 10 goals on the season, and is tied for seventh in the nation in goals per game and ninth in total goals. He scored both goals in a 2-1 win over Northeast Conference preseason favorite Central Connecticut in October, and has helped LIU Brooklyn to a 3-2 start in league play.
As a first-team All-District honoree, Merwine will be eligible for Academic All-America honors, which will be announced later this month.
