Former Olympian Irina Vyguzova Joins St. Francis (NY) Swimming & Diving Staff

Brooklyn, NY -- Former Olympic finalist, Irina Vyguzova, was named diving coach this past fall.

“I am happy to welcome Irina to the St. Francis College Swimming & Diving staff,” said Terrier head coach Brian Guidera. “She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our team. She has competed and trained at the highest level of competition and I am privileged to have her join the Terrier family.”

Vyguzova competed in the Olympic Games in 1996 and 2000 as well as the World Championships in 1994, 1998, and 2001. In 1995, she was a World Cup winner and was a National Champion from 1986-2003 in her native country of Kazakhstan.

Vyguzova received a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from State Academy of Tourism and Sport in Kazakstan in 1999. In addition to her coaching duties at St. Francis, Vyguzoya presently works at the JCH of Bensonhurst as the Aquatics Director.

She holds numerous certifications including Water Safety Instructor, Lifeguard, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, American Red Cross, Group Exercise Instructor, Personal Trainer, Practical Pilates Workshop, Step and Low Impact Aerobics Instructor.
