Brooklyn, NY -- St. Francis College today announced Brian Nash will lead the College’s men’s basketball program, effective immediately, for the 2005-2006 basketball season.

Nash, 34, comes to St. Francis College from Seton Hall University where he has served as assistant coach under Louis Orr since 2001. Prior to Seton Hall, Nash was assistant basketball coach at Siena College (2000-2001), St. Bonaventure University (1994-2000) and Sacred Heart University (1993-94). A 1988 graduate of Bishop Ford High School in Brooklyn, he went on to play basketball for four years at Keene State College in Keene, N.H., where he was team captain 1990-92.

“Brian’s experience as a player and leadership as a successful assistant coach are well matched for the goals of the St. Francis College basketball program and the talent of our team,” said Edward Aquilone, director of athletics, St. Francis College. “We’re delighted he will be leading the Terriers on the court, continuing a long tradition of excellent coaching that is and always has been the core of our program.”

St. Francis College’s basketball program, founded in 1896, is the oldest collegiate program in New York City. Nash replaces Ron Ganulin, who compiled a 187-207 over the last 14 seasons and led the Terriers to the NEC title game in 2001 and 2003.  Nash is the 16th coach in the College’s history.
