CCSU's Renson Haynes Stars For St. Vincent/Grenadines In World Cup Qualifying Matches

Haynes Scores Goal In 2-2 Draw Vs. Nicaragua on June 14

New Britain, CT -- Central Connecticut senior men's soccer player Renson Haynes is spending the summer starring for the St. Vincent/Grenadines National Team during its attempt to qualify for the 2006 World Cup. On June 13, 2004, he scored his first international goal in a 2-2 tie vs. Nicaragua.

"Scoring my first world cup qualifying goal makes me feel so good, and I must say thanks to my coaches Shaun (Green) and Todd (Dufresne) for what i have learned and was able to execute," Haynes said by email this week.

St. Vincent/Grenadines needs to defeat Nicaragua at home this Sunday, June 20, by at least one goal to advance to the next round of qualifying for the 2006 World Cup.

Haynes also scored a goal vs. St. Kitts and had an assist vs. Martinique in the country's international friendlies prior to the beginning of their World Cup qualifying matches.

Haynes and his Blue Devil teammates begin the 2004 season on Sunday, September 5, 2004 in New Britain vs. Sacred Heart at noon.
