Dorsett made a triumphant return to the playing field on Saturday after missing the 2002 campaign with a torn MCL and ACL in his right knee suffered in Robert Morris’ first game of the season. In a 33-23 win over Buffalo State, Dorsett carried the ball 28 times for 179 yards and two touchdowns, and tossed a 16-yard touchdown pass on an option play to lead a Colonial attack that rolled up 497 yards of total offense. In the process, he became the program’s all-time leading rusher with 2,962 yards, surpassing former Colonial standout Tim Hall, who gained 2,908 yards from 1994-95. The NEC’s rushing leader in 2000 and 2001, Dorsett helped the Colonials tie the game in the first quarter at 7-7 when he took a pitch from quarterback Drew Geyer and found a wide open Rupert Rickards in the end zone for a 16-yard touchdown pass, the first of his career. In the second quarter, he helped Robert Morris take its first lead of the game with a two-yard scoring run. Dorsett also hit paydirt on an 18-yard scamper with 4:01 to play to put the Colonials ahead for good, 27-23. Over the course of his career, Robert Morris is 12-2 when Dorsett rushes for 100 yards in a game. The Hollywood, FL native is just one 100-yard rushing game shy of tying the school record held by Hall (15).
