Shimmin had a part in each of CCSU’s goals last week, helping the Blue Devils to a victory over Yale and a 1-0-1 start in NEC play. The reigning NEC Player of the Year scored the lone goal at Yale in the 66th minute to propel CCSU to its biggest non-conference win this season. In league action, Shimmin tallied two goals and an assist in a 3-1 win at Fairleigh Dickinson and took three shots in a double overtime scoreless tie at Monmouth. The Liverpool, England native scored her first goal against the Knights on a direct kick only eight minutes into the game, then fed Denise Thomas on the game-winning goal, and closed the day with an insurance goal in the 75th minute off a penalty kick. Shimmin leads the NEC in scoring (17 pts./1.55 ppg) and assists (5/0.45 apg), while ranking second in goals (6) and third in goals per game (0.55 gpg).
