Monroe, who was one of five players named to the 2003-04 preseason All-NEC team, was named to the All-Tournament team at the Florida International Tournament over the weekend after averaging 17.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists in two games. In an 87-75 setback to Montana State, Monroe scored a game-high 23 points, including four three-pointers, grabbed six boards and dished for six assists. The following day, he tallied 12 points, a career-high seven rebounds and five assists as the Bobcats suffered a one-point setback to host FIU. His clutch steal and dish to teammate Craig Benson gave Quinnipiac a one-point lead with 24 seconds remaining, but the Golden Panthers were able to pull out the win on two free throws with seven seconds on the clock.
