In a battle for the top spot in the NEC men’s soccer table, Fitzgerald shined between the posts as Central Connecticut defeated Le Moyne, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon. The third-year keeper made 10 stops in his fourth clean sheet of the season. Fitzgerald made five saves in each half with one coming within the final five minutes to keep the Dolphins off the scoreboard. The Harrisburg, PA native owns the best save percentage in the NEC along with being tied for the league lead in shutouts with four on the year. Fitzgerald also ranks third in GAA (1.01). His save percentage is 16th in NCAA Division I. This marks the second time this season a CCSU athlete has been named NEC Player of the Week as Santiago Marin Gutierrez earned the honor on September 28. The Blue Devils improved to 3-1-1 in conference play with the win over Le Moyne and currently own a league-best 10 points in NEC action.
