Last Week’s Stats: 6.00 digs per set
For the second time in as many weeks, Joyce takes home the honor of NEC/Molten Defensive Player of the Week. The sophomore libero put up outstanding numbers in a pair of road matches at Central Connecticut to help the Knights preserve their undefeated record in conference play. In those two matches, both of which were straight-set triumphs, Joyce combined for 36 total digs with just one receiving error to average 6.00 digs per set. In Friday’s win, the Pittsburgh native registered 12 digs before she doubled that total in Saturday’s match after racking up 24, the most by an NEC player in a three-set match this season. Joyce’s numbers stacked up well against other liberos and defensive specialists in the nation, as her dig-per-set average last week was tied for the ninth best. In league play, she tops the charts with 6.00 digs per set, 2.33 more than the next closest competitor in the conference. FDU continues to have a stranglehold on the league’s weekly defensive accolade, as a Knight has been awarded the honor in four of seven weeks.
