Guimaraes netted both goals in New Haven’s nail-biting 2-2 draw against Chicago State on Sunday afternoon. The freshman forward opened the scoring in the 22nd minute to give the Chargers an early advantage. Facing a 2-1 deficit, Guimaraes clutched up with 30 seconds left to play as he found the back of the net and secured a point for New Haven. His game-tying goal kept New Havens unbeaten conference mark alive. The Brazil native is the first Charger to notch a multi-goal outing in the program’s Division I era. Guimaraes leads all NEC rookies with four goals on the season. New Haven has, now, had a NEC Rookie of the Week selection in its first two seasons in the league.
