Last Week’s Stats: 6.00 digs per set, 1.14 service aces per set
For the third time this season, the NEC/Molten Defensive Player of the Week award has been earned by a Knight, as Joyce takes home the honor for the first time, joining two-time honoree Angela Marchetto (Sept. 1, Sept. 9). A sophomore libero and native of Pittsburgh, Joyce was instrumental in helping FDU jump out to a 2-0 start to NEC play with a pair of wins over Mercyhurst this past weekend. She totaled 42 digs, the most of any NEC defensive player in the league last week, for a whopping average of 6.00 per set. In addition, she had just three receiving errors and added eight service aces during that stretch, seven of which came in Saturday’s 3-1 triumph. The seven aces marked the most by an NEC player in a four-set match this season, while her 24 digs in that victory were the second-most. On the season, Joyce ranks fifth in the league in service aces with 0.37 per set.
