Last Week’s Stats: 3.27 points per set, 2.93 kills per set, .124 hitting percentage, 0.67 blocks per set
New Haven’s first-year outside hitter doubled up on her NEC/Molten Rookie of the Week award count after she led her team to a perfect 3-0 mark at the NJIT Invitational. Delivering double digits in kills in each of the Chargers’ three wins in the Garden State while adding 13 digs and nine blocks, the Lakewood, WA native averaged 3.27 points, 2.93 kills and 0.67 blocks per set in a four-match weekend that saw New Haven go 3-1. Alefaio got her week going with a bang, recording a career-best 15 kills and adding six blocks to lead the Chargers past host-team NJIT in four sets on Friday. Adding 11 kills in Saturday’s four-set win against Seton Hall, the rookie sent New Haven home with a straight-set win over Iona later in the day after she closed out the tournament with another 11-kill effort. The three-match win streak marked the Chargers’ longest as an NEC and Division I member. In addition, it is the longest since a three-match rally that featured wins over Pace, Assumption and Southern New Hampshire during New Haven’s Division II era in 2024. Alefaio enters the week ranked sixth in the league with 2.72 kills per set.
