Last Week’s Stats: 5.18 points per set, 4.27 kills per set, .250 hitting percentage, 3.09 digs per set, 1.00 blocks per set
Van Gisteren stole the show in LIU’s win over Virginia Tech on Sunday. Leading all hitters on the afternoon with 23 kills, including five down the final stretch of the fourth set to seal the win, the senior right-side hitter also put up match-best numbers in digs (17) and blocks (7) to lead the Sharks to their first win against a Power 4 squad since defeating Alabama in 2014. All three of those marks were season-best numbers, while her 23 kills were the most by an NEC player in a four-set contest this season. Van Gisteren’s performance against the Hokies capped off a stellar weekend that also featured matches against Northwestern and Green Bay. During that three-match stretch, the Netherlands native led LIU in kills (47), blocks (11) and points (57.0). She ranks within the league’s top 10 in four categories, including kills per set (3rd – 3.41), digs (7th – 2.56), blocks (10th – 0.63) and points (3rd – 4.09). This is her fourth career NEC/Molten Player of the Week honor, as she took home the award three times in 2025.
