Last Week’s Stats: 270 punting yards, 5 punts, 54.0 yards per punt (73-yard long), 2 50+ yard punts, 3 inside 20
Brent blasted five punts for a total of 270 yards to average 54.0 yards per punt in LIU’s defeat to UAlbany on Saturday. The sophomore sent two punts for 50-or-more yards, including a 73-yarder that is the fourth-longest in the FCS this season, while on three occasions, he pinned the Great Danes inside their own 20-yard line. In addition, Brent’s punting average of 54.0 yards in LIU’s home debut is currently the third-best performance among all punters in the nation this season. A native of Australia, Brent also faked a punt and ran the ball 30 yards, marking the longest rush by a Shark so far this season. On the season, he is currently third in the FCS in punting yards per game with 46.3 yards per boot, while his 880 punting yards and five 50-plus-yard punts are both ranked second in the NEC. Brent is the first LIU player this season to garner NEC/Atlantic Special Teams Player of the Week distinction.
