Last Week’s Stats: 1.77 blocks per set, 1.65 points per set, 0.77 kills per set, 0.54 digs per set
Marchetto doubled up on her NEC/Molten Defensive Player of the Week honors in just the second week of the season. The Italian-born middle blocker was a force to be reckoned with at the net, ranking 15th among all NCAA players with 1.77 rejections per set. In addition, Marchetto’s 23 blocks during FDU’s four-match stretch were the second-most in the nation last week. The junior had five-or-more blocks three times, beginning with five assisted blocks in three sets at Fordham on Tuesday. She was stellar in Friday’s 3-1 setback at Columbia, compiling a season-best nine blocks, which marked the most by an NEC player in a four-set match this season. Marchetto closed out the weekend strong and led FDU to a sweep of Iona on Saturday with a seven-block performance to tie her own mark for most rejections in a three-set match in the league this year. Marchetto enters the week with 37 total blocks, 15 more than the next closest competitor in the NEC, while her 1.68 blocks per set are tops in the league and 10th in Division I.
