Alefaio got her collegiate campaign off to a solid start this past weekend. In New Haven’s Opening Weekend at the Holly Young Invitational, the Lakewood, WA native averaged 3.17 points, 2.75 kills and 0.67 blocks per set during the three-match stretch. Alefaio was stellar in her debut against host-team New Hampshire, delivering 14 kills, a pair of blocks and four digs in a hard-fought match that went down to the wire in five sets. Notching double figures in kills once again after finishing with 12 in the weekend finale, the outside hitter put up a personal-best five blocks to lead their Chargers to their first win of the season, a 3-1 final over Saint Peter’s. She enters the second week of the season ranked fourth in the conference in kills per set, while her block-per-set average is tied for sixth among NEC leaders.
