Cino became the first NEC player to run it back as NEC Player of the Week on Tuesday. The Blue Devils’ slugger put up impressive numbers once again to lead Central Connecticut to a 2-2 record, including a pivotal NEC series win over LIU during the weekend. Posting the second-best batting average in the entire nation after she went 10-for-13 at the plate for a .769 clip, her 10 hits were third-most in NCAA Division I among players that appeared in four games during the week. In addition, Cino, who calculated a .733 on-base percentage, slugged 1.154 with a pair of two-baggers and a long ball. The Garden State product got her week off with a bang in a tightly contested battle against in-state rival Fairfield on Wednesday. Turning in a perfect 4-for-4 performance, she launched a grand slam in the hard-fought, 10-9 walk-off defeat. Cino brought even more heat in Central Connecticut’s penultimate NEC series against then-first-place LIU. She slashed .667/.778/.778 and doubled twice to propel the Blue Devils to the top of the league standings with an 18-3 record after handing the Sharks two losses. The conference’s leader in doubles (14) also ranks among the NEC leaders in several categories. She is third in batting average (.407), fourth in slugging percentage (.648), fourth in on-base percentage (.500), third in OPS (1.148), fourth in hits (44), seventh in RBI (27), fifth in walks (20).
