Gouveia, who has had a stranglehold on the league’s Rookie of the Week award, added another feather to her cap following her impressive performance in Stonehill’s penultimate game of the regular season. The first-year midfielder poured in five goals, a new career high, to lead Stonehill to a pivotal 14-7 win over LIU on Saturday. Two of her scores came within a one-minute stretch in the second quarter that helped break a 3-3 tie and put the Skyhawks in front for good. With the triumph, the Skyhawks secured a spot in the NEC Tournament for a third-straight season. In addition, Gouveia tacked on another weekly award to her conference record-breaking season total to make it seven honors on the year. With her eighth hat trick, the league’s top-scoring freshman ranks ninth in the NEC in goals per game (2.25) and seventh in total goals (36). In addition, her 4.88 draw controls per contest rank fourth.
