Coutu’s torrid scoring spree continued last week. Coming off a six-goal outing in a 17-10 win at FDU on April 4, the Brookline, NH native delivered two more five-goal performances against Wagner and New Haven to lead a red-hot Stonehill squad to its fifth- and sixth-straight wins. On the week, Coutu, who is fourth on the circuit in points per game (4.08), fourth in assists per game (1.62) and seventh in goals per contest (2.46), combined for 16 points on 11 goals and five assists. In a pivotal mid-week matchup with Wagner, which entered the contest tied with the Skyhawks for second place in the league rankings, Coutu struck a game-best six times and added a pair of assists to finish with a season-best eight points. Most impressively, her contributions to a game-ending 5-0 run helped Stonehill claw back from a 13-10 deficit and come away with the 15-13 triumph. Delivering the game-tying score with 9:05 left in the fourth quarter, she added an insurance strike and sealed the win for the Skyhawks with the game’s final score at the 6:52 mark. Coutu had another explosive outing on Saturday after she hit the eight-point mark once again. Racking up five goals and three assists, she helped Stonehill move into a three-way tie for first place with Le Moyne and LIU with a 21-7 win over New Haven. This is Coutu’s first NEC Player of the Week honor of the season.
