Earning her second Influxer/NEC Player of the Week award in the past three weeks, McGee balled out again over the weekend as Chicago State extended its winning streak to four. The sophomore guard averaged 23.5 points, 10.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 steals per game as the Cougars won both of their games by a combined nine points last week. McGee started the week strong with a 28-point, 13-rebound outing against Central Connecticut on Thursday night – becoming the sixth NEC player to register at least 20 points and 10 rebounds in a game this season. She is also the first Chicago State player to score at least 28 and grab at least 13 boards in a contest in 10 years. Additionally, McGee scored 18 of the Cougars’ 25 fourth quarter points to help secure the home win over the Blue Devils. The Milwaukee, WI native added another standout performance on Saturday with 19 points and seven rebounds in a thrilling three-point win over New Haven. The 5-8 guard had a key bucket down the stretch in the fourth to put Chicago State up one with 3:15 left as CSU would hold onto the lead for the rest of the game. In league play alone, the sophomore averages 14.5 ppg, which ranks seventh in the conference. McGee has led the Cougars to seven wins in their last nine contests and has helped them clinch their spot in the NEC Tournament. Chicago State is now tied for fourth place in the conference standings with a 7-5 league record.
