Mason added yet another NEC weekly award to his trophy case in what has been strong start to his junior year. The reigning NEC Indoor Most Outstanding Field Performer (Jumps) leaped 7.33m in the long jump to win the event at the Seahawk Shootout over the weekend. His mark ranks second in the league and sits 21st in the nation. Mason is one of two NEC student-athletes ranked in the top-25 nationally in the long jump, joining Chicago State’s Xavier Beatty (7.43m, 14th). This marked Mason’s first NEC Field Athlete of the Week accolade this season and fifth of his career.
