Leading postseason-bound Saint Francis to a weekend sweep at defending champion Chicago State, Atkins earned NEC/Molten Rookie of the Week honors for the fourth time this season. The right-side hitter contributed a total of 23.5 points to a Red Flash squad that rebounded from a 1-0 deficit on Friday and closed out the weekend with wins in six-straight sets. Atkins, a southpaw, was a force at the net with 19 total kills, while on defense, she anchored the back row with 18 digs and five blocks. The rookie from Morristown, NJ also cashed in from the service line, racking up four points on four aces. Delivering three of those aces in Friday’s 3-1 win, Atkins posted 11 kills in an efficient .368 fashion in Saturday’s straight-set victory. With the league’s regular-season title and NEC Tournament top seed still up for grabs, the Red Flash take on Le Moyne for the final two matches of the regular season this weekend.
