Muhammad put together a stellar week for LIU in a stretch that saw the 12-time NEC champion Sharks secure an NEC postseason berth for a 23rd-straight year. The Shoreline, WA native had a hot hand last week, as she led all hitters with a .514 percentage racking up 43 kills with just seven miscues in 70 total attacks. In mid-week action on Wednesday, Muhammad was virtually unstoppable with a .688 attack percentage and 12 kills in a straight-set win against New Haven (Oct. 29). With that victory, the Sharks, who extended their win streak to 11 in the process, moved to a perfect 10-0 against NEC opponents. Muhammad saved one of her best performances of the season for a pivotal match against Saint Francis on Saturday. After LIU suffered its first loss of the league slate at the hands of the Red Flash on Friday, she delivered a career-high 32 kills on .606 hitting to lead her team to a five-set victory. That win put the Sharks back on top of the league standings with an 11-1 mark. This is the first NEC/Molten Player of the Week award for Molten, who ranks fifth in NCAA Division I with a .440 hitting percentage on the year.
