Last Week’s Stats: 1.56 points/set, 1.38 blocks/set
In a pair of pivotal weekend matchups against then-first place Saint Francis, Marchetto anchored an FDU defense that stood tall to come out with a 1-1 mark during that stretch. A native of Treviso, Italy, she led all players with 11 rejections to push her season total to 53, which ranks her second on the circuit with 1.13 blocks per set. Despite a seven-block effort from Marchetto on Friday, the Knights came just short of handing the Red Flash their first defeat of the year as they fell in five sets. On Saturday, though, FDU came out on top by a 3-0 final thanks in part to a four-block performance from the sophomore middle blocker. Against fellow conference competitors, Marchetto tops the NEC’s blocks charts with 1.48-per-set average. With her second award in as many weeks, she is the first player this season to repeat as NEC/Molten Defensive Player of the Week.
