Last Week’s Stats: 3.00 points/set, 1.50 blocks/set
Marchetto, a sophomore, was a wall at the net for FDU, which dismantled reigning NEC champion Chicago State this past weekend with 3-1 and 3-0 finals on Friday and Saturday, respectively. The Italian-born middle blocker racked up a whopping nine blocks and led all league players with 1.50 blocks per set. With the victories, the Knights improved to 8-1 against NEC competitors with their seventh-straight triumph. In addition, Marchetto added 2.00 kills per set on .750 hitting after combining for 12 kills with zero miscues. Turning in a perfect stat sheet on Friday after recording five kills on five attempts, Marchetto was a force to be reckoned with on defense with six blocks. On Saturday, she put down three blocks and added seven kills. Marchetto and the Knights have a challenge on the horizon, as they are set to face off against undefeated Saint Francis in Hackensack on Friday and Saturday. Marchetto is the second Knight to garner NEC/Molten Defensive Player of the Week honors, joining three-time winner Kyndal Ganoe (Sept. 3, Sept. 23, Oct. 14).
