Last Week’s Stats: .440 hitting percentage, 2.95 points/set, 2.60 kills/set, 0.70 blocks/set
It’s an NEC/Molten Rookie of the Week repeat for Alessia Zampieri, as the right-side hitter pushed her season total to three after she contributed to a 3-0 stretch for FDU last week. The Italian-born right-side hitter compiled a sizzling .440 attack percentage after registering 26 kills and just four miscues in 50 total attacks. In addition, she added seven blocks during that undefeated stretch that featured a mid-week win over Le Moyne and a weekend sweep of Stonehill. Zampieri put the finishing touches on the Knights’ perfect week with a stellar 14-kill, four-block effort in Saturday’s series finale, a 3-1 win over the Skyhawks. On the season, the sophomore is hitting .276, including a .424 clip against conference competitors. With Zampieri’s third award, she is tied with Saint Francis freshman Gwen Atkins for most NEC/Molten Rookie of the Week honors this season.
