Hurlbut was one of four Central Connecticut players to net a hat trick as the Blue Devils doubled up on Delaware State on Saturday to score a 20-10 win. The victory marked the second in as many games for the Blue Devils, as they were coming off a triumph at Howard last week. Hurlbut tallied a career-high five points after she found the back of the net a game-best four times. The local product from Ellington, CT doubled her season point total in that game alone, as she entered the week with three goals and two helpers. To that stat line, she added two draw controls and one ground ball. Hurlbut struck twice in the first quarter to help Central Connecticut jump out to an early 6-1 edge. Completing her first career hat trick with a goal at the 13:22 mark of the second to put her team up, 9-1, she closed out her scoring spree and extended the lead to 16-7 with an extra-woman goal at the 12:42 mark of the third stanza. With this week’s honor, Hurlbut becomes the first Blue Devil to earn a weekly award from the NEC this season.
