Rishel’s consistent hitting helped FDU earn a 3-2 record, including a series victory over Wagner in NEC play last weekend. A rookie utility player, she notched at least one hit in all but one of the Knights’ games and had multiple hits in three of those contests. During the five-game stretch, Rishel batted .500 (8-for-16) while posting a .556 on-base percentage. Driving in one run and scoring three times, she also added a stolen base to her stat line for the week. In the first of two games against league foe Wagner on Saturday, the Strongsvillle, OH native earned a lead-off walk in the bottom of the sixth inning and went on to score as part of a three-run frame that secured a come-from-behind 3-2 win. In Saturday’s nightcap, Rishel went 2-for-3 with one run and a walk in a game that saw an FDU comeback bid come up short in a 6-5 defeat. Rishel is the first FDU rookie to garner NEC Rookie of the Week honors this season.
