Easton put up the second-most points by an NCAA Division I player this season after she went off for 12 in Mercyhurst’s first-ever game as an NEC member on Saturday. Finding the back of the net four times, she assisted on eight other scores to lead the Lakers past Howard by a 15-13 final. Johns Hopkins’ Ashley Mackin is the only player in the nation to have more points in a game this year, as she registered 13 against Georgetown last month. In addition, Easton’s eight helpers are tied for the fourth-most in a game in the country. With hat tricks in each of her five games this season, including four, four-goal efforts, Whitley leads the NEC in goals per game (3.80), assists per game (2.60), assists (13) and points per game (6.40). With this week’s honor, she becomes the first player this season to repeat as the NEC Player of the Week, as she first received the distinction last week on March 10.
