Zielinski became the first rookie to garner NEC Player of the Week honors in 2025, and the first player this season to sweep the awards for the league’s top performance and the league’s top rookie on the same day. The first-year utility player sent three of her four hits at the FIU Classic for extra bases and boasted a .750 slugging percentage for the Red Flash during their five-game stretch in the Sunshine State. A native of Phoenix, AZ, Zielinski got Saint Francis U’s offense going when she drove in the first run of the weekend in the top of the fourth to put her squad ahead in an eventual 2-1 win over Toledo on Friday. Registering a two-bagger in that victory, Zielinski also doubled in Saturday’s game against Bradley before she launched her second career home run in the weekend finale against host-team FIU. Zielinski’s recognition as the NEC Player of the Week breaks the streak of teammate Savannah Nash, who opened the season with three-straight honors, however it does extend Saint Francis U’s stranglehold on the award to four-in-a-row.
