Last Week’s Stats: 3.00 points per set, 2.38 blocks per set
Marchetto’s outstanding efforts on defense helped lead FDU to a pivotal split first-place Chicago State this past weekend. After falling by a 3-1 final in the series opener on Friday, the Italian-born middle blocker delivered a stellar effort to help the Knights rebound with a 3-1 win on Saturday. In addition to handing the Cougars their first NEC loss of 2024, the Knights also earned a berth to the NEC Tournament for the third-straight season with the triumph. After posting seven blocks in the first-ever meeting between the two squads, Marchetto was unstoppable the next day, delivering an NEC-best 12 rejections to knock off the Cougars for the first time this season. On the season, she is second in the NEC in blocks with 1.03 per set, a number that has been elevated to 1.18 per set against league competitors. She is the second FDU player this season to garner NEC/Molten Defensive Player of the Week honors, joining two-time winer Emily Van O’Linda.
