Last Week’s Stats: .370 hitting percentage, 3.00 points per set, 2.38 blocks per set, 1.50 kills per set
Marchetto pushed her 2024 weekly award total to three when she was tabbed the NEC/Molten Rookie of the Week for the second time this season. In doing so, the first-year middle blocker from Treviso, Italy became the first player this season to sweep both the NEC/Molten Defensive Player of the Week and the Rookie of the Week awards on the same day. Marchetto delivered a clutch defensive performance to lead FDU to a pivotal NEC split with first-place Chicago State this past weekend. Tallying a league-best 19 rejections, which was good for an impressive 2.38 per set, she closed out the weekend averaging 3.00 points per set after averaging 1.50 kills on .370 hitting. In Friday’s series opener, a 3-1 defeat, Marchetto posted a .583 attack percentage after she delivered seven kills and zero errors. She was stealthy on defense on Saturday, posting 12 blocks, the most rejections in a match this season by an NEC player, in the Knights’ 3-1 triumph. With the split, FDU secured a spot in the upcoming NEC Championship for the third time in as many seasons.
